Reading through the threads it would appear that i use less mainstream equipment. Mainly i think because of the inhospitable places i camp. I was just thinking maybe some of this stuff could be of use to you. i will list a few items i use that i have not seen mentioned here very often and it might be of interest to you.
Goal Zero Guide 10 Plus Adventure Kit fantastic piece of kit i use it to charge my satellite phone and ipad.
Heatpal 5100, has to be the best heater available for a tent.
Kelly kettle, would not leave home without it.
I could go on but if anyone else is interested in more offbeat kit i will list some more.
In my view the simpler the kit the more reliable it is so some of this kit might be very basic but it works.
ohh and for cooking nothing beats the coleman 424 stove.
yup, always interested in offbeat stuff. I have a kelly kettle, the grandkids love collecting twigs. My best bits of kit are the space blankets from pound shops which weigh little, fold up small and go under the ground sheet. no need to dry the underneath of the tent.
Dyneema kite line for guys, glow in the dark clam cleats.

No my days of backpacking are over, mainly trips to Africa using a Nissan patrol. My father used to be involved with an aid agency and I have just kept up going there.
I use the solar panel for my cycle touring and it gives me independence from hotels etc.
The tent used is a campmor safari vista used it a few times in the uk and was ok but not ideal for wet days as single skinned. But they are simplicity masterpiece set up in 2 minutes.
Had never heard of the Kelly Kettle until I got involved in Scouting, they are a great bit of kit, especially for a morning cuppa after a night with very little sleep!
There is some great kit there Scamp, thanks for sharing. Whilst it might be more expensive than the average camper would want to pay it will pay for itself in the long run by the amount of time it lasts
