Hello campers

have our very first camping trip at the weekend.  Just starting to wonder now about what essential kit we should take (worried I forget anything) although Hubby keeps saying "were going to end up taking the whole house AS ID !!

So come on you experience campers what is the bare minimum (but essential) items I need to take for our first trip.  We are going for 3 nights (3 of us me hubby and daughter) and we have a Horizon 6 tent

Add to the above lists:

A table to eat off

A smallish barbeque for use outside the tent

A stand or table of some kind to put your stove on

Knife and spoon to cook with + cutlery to eat with

Some cups or plastic beakers

Airbeds or something under your sleeping bags (never sleep on the ground !).

Wash kit including hair and tooth brushes.

As you go on more trips you will see what your family need - we take everything but probably don't need to !!!

A sense of humour and a tin opener! oh and batteries and if/when you realise you have forgotten something try asking other campers - we've all been there.

I would say the absolute basics are:
* tent, bedroom inners, poles, pegs, mallet
* something to sleep on and in (airbed/mats/campbed, sleeing bag/duvet and blankets)
* something to eat at/play games - table and chairs
* something to cook on - suitcase stove is small and easy to use, large stove and gas bottle bulkier but prefered by some
* plates, bowls, cups, cutlery
* torch/lights
* clothes, towel, wash kit

Things that are handy but you could manage without for a few nights:
* cool box or fridge (just buy fresh food as and when you need them)
* porta potti
* BBQ

Things that can make your trip ultra-comfortable:
* tent carpet
* tent awning/extension
* EHU
* windbreak

Things I never camp without:
* baby wipes
* hand sanatising gel
* gaffer tape
* tin opener/corkscrew
* cheap mats/blankets to insulate airebd from the floor and placed between the airbed and sleeping bag
* crocs and wellies

You will soon learn what you absolutely need and what you can leave behind - it is a bit trial and error and each camper will have a different list of "essentials".
