Just purchased my first tent - a Icarus 600 picked up off eBay for just over 100 quid!

So myself, the wife and the dogs are gonna go away for an anniversary trip at the end of July. I CAN'T FRICKING WAIT!!

Welcome to the forum. We are off this weekend, first trip of the season......the excitement never wanes.....I've been packing all weekend and now can't get into my lounge.....do you have to wait till July? How about a week-ender or even an overnighter in the garden

Fantastic !  can I ask if you will pitch it in your garden or other very local place before you "go away " in it ?  A good old practice and check is always a great warm up to that first pitch on a campsite.

Ooooo the Icaras is a lovely tent I have the Orchy myself. Vango are great tents in my opinion. Have a great time is this the first time you've bought a tent? Do you have all the equipment too?

I just love to read of the excitement in all of these posts from 1st time campers about their impending trips..Or their return from one...

Being an experienced camper of many years standing...An "expert" pitcher...A collector of useful and functional camping gear Blah! Blah! Blardy Blah! Its all old hat to me and I never seem to get excited about an upcoming trip..................


The fact I can hardly sleep for 3 nights before a trip..Am always wondering what the site/pitch/weather will be like..Am always playing(sorry checking out) my gear days before the off day..Means I'm thinking ahead in a practical and sensible manner...And NOT getting excited like a kid in a sweet shop!!!!....

Welcome to the forum md17...and to the daft..wonderful world of camping...I don't think you ever lose that sense of excitement of getting off camping...All part and parcel of the pastime/hobby we share...
