Hi All, we're new to this site and new to camping.  Had our first camping trip last weekend and all went surprisingly well- phew!!

Bought a lovely Outwell oakland XL tent from our local winfields on a great offer that included the tent, footprint, side extension & carpet - quite posh for camping.  Saying that, now we have our first camp under our belts,(stayed at Jasmine Park(north yorks near Scarborough over Jubilee weekend)  we have come home and realised we do actually need a few more bits of kit to make life a little easier....purchases so far have included roof box & all associated fixings etc, extra windbreak for a bit of privacy.

 Any tips & advice would be appreciated. Looking to camp new Aysgarth falls/Leyburn area but struggling to find anything suitable for family with 2 young kids 9 & 6 years.

Not much to do actually on site but space for the kids to play.

I don't know how well you know this area or where you are coming from, so I hope I'm not telling you things you already know, but but there is LOADS to do in the surrounding areas:
* Forbidden Corner (This is a MUST!)
* Middleham Castle
* Bolton Castle
* Brymor Ice Cream Parlour (another MUST!)
* Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal
* Lightwater Valley theme park
* Richmond Castle
* World of James Herriot museum
* Newby Hall
* Aysgarth Falls
* Brimham Rocks

The market towns of Bedale, Richmond and Northallerton are all close to Leyburn (within 15 miles) where you will find a good selection of shops, supermarkets, cinema and leisure facilities.
