I have got a Khyam Quebec 8 DLX. We have just come back from a very blustery site on the south coast. During the stay I had to tighten the guy ropes a number of times. Unfortunately one of these adjustments the guy rope became unattached to the tent and I was wondering the best way to repair said 'issue'.

Let me give some more detail. The guy rope is attached to the tent in two places on each of the poles (5). They are attached at the top via a small amount of webbing (4cm x 3cm) which is in turn sewn into the seam. What has happened is friction from tightening the guy has torn through the webbing.

My thought would be that simply stitching the torn webbing would not be strong enough. So though about punching a small eyelet into the webbing, but before I did this I thought I would chuck it out the tent encyclopedia that is UKCS.

So thoughts please on my predicament and if there are alternates that I have not thought of.

What you've suggested sounds like a good idea. If it was me I would re-enforce the piece of webbing with some additional fabric before putting fitting the eyelet just for good measure. It might be worth putting eyelets into the other locations as well while your at it.

You could add an extra piece of webbing over the existing peices with epoxy resin glue. Never heard of this problem before though. Perhaps some split rings fitted to the webbing would give a smoother pull to stop the guy lines sawing through the webbing. I used S hooks on my Eldorado so I could remove the guy lines when they were wet when folding the tent away.

Had this last year...Hand sewed the anchor point back on reinforced with a bit of webbing I found in my lock up..Waterproofed the thread before sewing by running it through the end of a candle...Then covered the lot in seam sealant...Can't speak for the result as the tent is now kept for a spare if one of the family want to use it...But looked sturdy enough if a bit tatty due to my DIY skills
