Hi, we are going camping to Cornwall in 2 wks and am a bit worried about the weather. We have a wynnster pharaoh 4 which is solid as a rock when guyed with delta pegs but would like a gazebo/ shelter to cook/ sit out under if wet. Have seen waterproof pop up gazebos with windbars and wondered if we guyed it out and used rock/ delta pegs if it would be ok? What are your thoughts? Anne
Hi Anne
That would be fine!! we used the exact same thing in Cornwall last year!!!! ours is only 2m x 2m but there was others on site with the bigger version!!! We had loads of windy weather and it didnt budge an inch!! have fun x
Check first that the campsite allows gazebos at all, many dont.
Unfortunately, many campers who take care with tents and awnings merely put a couple of daft wire pegs in their gazebos (which are basically sails or parachutes with metal bars).
This means that in windy conditions these sail off - sometimes into the distance but often into other campers' tents and vehicles, causing damage.
Before I turned to tarpaulins for extra shelter I had a cheap gazebo that, because it was well-guyed and pegged, stood up to gale force winds here and abroad.

Yes, campsite does allow them- at a cost! Will have another look round today, but thought if we used screw pegs , deltas for guylines and put stronger guylines, might be ok. Will just have to monitor situation and take it down if necessary! Thanks.
I've just got one of these for exactly the same reason (space to cook in and sit in ) and wondered if anyone else had had experience of how they hold out in bad weather with deltas etc.?
