Thank you everyone for your comments and advice,

Not long to go now!

Am hoping woodlands stays on Amber and does not go red
I really don't fancy trying to haul all our gear too far

Hope everyone has a great time and hope the wind and rain stay away

Si

HI,

We stayed on Silverstone Woodlands campsite. It was horrendous with the mud. Ankle deep in parts. Took tent and gazebo. Left the tent there, it was beyond cleaning. When we left, the staff had to tow 80% of the cars of their pitches, due to them having sunk!!! You wouldnt believe that on the actual Sunday, during the race it was so hot, I got sun tanned!! but after the race it just threw it down again!!

On the plus side, had a fantastic weekend with the racing, will go back next year, just pray for better weather, because I really dont fancy that again ever!!!

A friend at work was at Silverstone camping and she said "Imagine Glastonbury but full of middle aged men"

It was incredibly wet. We arrived at the Marshals campsite on Tuesday and were able to drive on to our pitch without a problem, but were under strict instructions not to move it once there. Later on in the week after more rain the caravans had torn the roadways up something rotten and most had to be towed on. Our pitch stayed OK though there was some standing water under the groundsheet towards the end. Tent and all equipment survived, though we did have to get towed off the site on Monday. We were really thankful for the circuit snatch vehicles and tractor drivers who stayed to get us all out.

We Survived!

Our weekend started on the Friday morning when we arrived at Woodlands at around 8am.

Once in it became apparent just how bad the site was, we were not allowed to take the car into the site so had to lug our stuff to our pitch.....this took around 6 hours

We managed to find a really good pitch at the end of the family zone with around 5 other tents, this worked well as very few people walked past us therefore limiting the mud.

The weekend was fantastic despite the poor weather and mud although getting around the site was a bit of a nightmare.

Staff were friendly and efficient however security was poor with many reports of tents being robbed whilst the occupants slept and security nonplussed when told about these incidents.

Our best buy was a couple of packs of interlocking floor tiles that we put in our extension, they really helped keep the mud at bay and gave an area to take off wellies and waterproofs.

I would definitely attend a GP again but am undecided if I would stay at Woodlands its just too big.

This whole experience has given me a lot more confidence that we can cope with camping whatever the weather!

All our gear is now free of mud and dry and I am looking at site reviews to plan a trip for August

I just hope we can have a little sun!

Have put some photos in my profile

Si
