I've only seen them online and wondered if there was anything that could break/go wrong with them.

Family want to buy me jewelry for 30th as it lasts but would much rather cool box, will that last? Thanks in advance. Ps can you store wine bottles in it?

I've got one and use a couple of bags of supermarket ice which will last for about 5 days...remember to drain the water off every day or else you'll get a soggy mess of food.Plenty deep enough for wine bottles. GoOutdoors stock them if you want to have a look before buying.

I know several Cub & Scout leaders use them for camps and have seen loads of them dotted around the camp sites at car shows. I've got the Kampa version which isn't as big but kept our food cold for several days. We've even had ice cream in it for a few hours, but no longer than 4 I would say otherwise it starts to run away.

Hi and happy birthday! I have the Coleman Extreme and it is good (remember to chill it down before use to maximise it's effectiveness). But... I'd go for the Igloo Maxcold if I bought again, as there is more room inside. The Colemans have surprisingly thick walls. Or, if money isn't a problem, as they're about twice the price, there are the beautifully-coloured IceyTek boxes. These even come in girly pink .

And you can chill your fizz in it to celebrate!

You will get water in the bottom but that can help keep things cool too. Just put perishables/food in plastic boxes to keep out the water. I also put bubble wrap on top to fill the air gaps and, if I have salad, sit this on top, out of the way of any ice or moisture.

A girl after my own heart. My family are well used to me asking for things like tarps, flasks, and on one occasion a pvc tablecover, all for my camping, for birthdays and Christmas! From a woman whose favourite shops are hardware and camping stores!

Ps, we have the igloo max 50. Last year kept our food frozen for about 3 days and cold for a further 3.

Hi happy birthday, we have an Icey Tek in bright red, brilliant piece of kit, we have used it camping for a week with some crushed ice (as Safeway says, drain out the water daily) no worries.

The Icey Tek makes a cool seat while camping, also at home in our eldest son's bedroom, and is slowly getting adorned with stickers, it is one very cool coolbox !!!!

Who wants jewellery anyway....and an Icey Tek or good quality cooler will last just as long and you will have far more fun with it. Plus yes you can keep wine in it (lots of wine!!17)

I have an Icy-Tek in Bright yellow and I love it.

Keeps ice (for the G&T) for around 4 to 5 days, and the beer cold for a week without having to put anymore ice or freezer blocks in.

Dont tip out the melted ice water though, it helps to keep the box cold. Just keep anything you dont want to get wet away from the water.

Having had an Icy-tec, I wouldnt buy any other cooler box now.

If it wasn't important to drain the excess water from the box why do manufacturers fit a drain plug ?

To give you the option to drain it if you want to.

If you are a keeping food that will go bad if exposed to water and you have no way of keeping it out the water, then you should drain it.

Personally, mine is mostly filled with bottles of beer, which i dont mind getting wet if that means they stay cold. Anything i want to remain dry sits on top of the beer

I fill a very large klip lock box with ice cubes that way my coleman doesn't get water in the bottom of it, cool box stays lovely & cold & I have ice for my Pimms from the sealed klip lock box for approx 5 days!
