We went to Flamingo land for a week. We arrived in glorious weather on the 20th, what a difference fine weather and no wind make to pitching! We had our choice of pitches, and all looked the same, so chose the one away from road due to our toddler.
It rained that night, then didn't stop for 2 days, and the wind was awful. On the Friday morning I noticed a few drips coming through the seams, so consulted here and set about finding a shop selling paint on seam seal and a waterproof spray. When we got in car it didn't start, we'd drained the battery with the cool box and inflating the air beds! RAC came in a couple of hours and git us going so went for a long drive to recharge.
Got the supplies, and returned to tent to find living area flooded. Water had come up around the loose groundsheet :-( . With this and the wind that was bending big trees, after consulting info off here and us bailing 6 buckets of water out, we decided to evacuate! Before leaving I doubled the pegs on the guys and tightened them.
We managed to get a static caravan for 3 nights and would then see about the last 2. We went back to the tent the next morning fully expecting it to have gone, but it was there and appeared unscathed!
So by Monday, the wind had dropped and rain gone, so we moved the tent to a dry pitch and had 2 nights back there. Luckily the bedrooms had stayed dry, and the seam sealant seemed effective against normal rain. So I sprayed the outside too as an added precaution.
We got back home Wednesday, and have only just got the tent dry! The only injury is a snapped wand of 1 pole.
An experience? Yes! Has it put us off? No!
