Ok everyone I am quote new to this forum, although not new to the whole camping lark!!

We are due to go to North Yorkshire (Skipsea Sands to be precise) this sunday, I am desperately still wanting to go but its all of the cynical people telling us that we must be mad to even think of still going,

What do all of you people think??

To be fair its only 1 hour 15 minutes from home, so my thinking is to take the chance if we get there and its too muddy and boggy we can turn around and come home...

also any tips for camping in mud/rain would be gratefully appreciated......

Which are thebest pegs to use??

Many Thanks from a very excitable me that just cant wait to pitch the tent xxx

Forecast looks to be light showers/ sunny spells - I'd go for it. What would Ernest Shackleton do I wonder? Hope you have fun!

Any other weekend we can!

Hi,welcome to the forum.

I take it those who say don't go are sensible people..well no point asking here, the answer almost always will be yes,of course,17. Advice, wellies and waterproofs. Pegs in mud...the thicker the better or dunked in glue. As long as there is no horrendous winds which could damage your tent and cause injury I can't see much of a problem (a dinghy might be useful if the rain is too bad). Hope you go and have a great time.17

Are you mad well of course you are why else would you post on this forum but dont worry it only gets worse after a while you will start to enjoy it
By the way hubby and me are of to the lakes for a couple of days but dont dare tell anyone.
As for pegs take some of the thick plastic ones the bigger the better when the ground is really soft we sometimes use some triangle shaped pieces a old tent cloth which you can clip onto the pegging points you can then place a heavy object like a large piece of stone on top of the triangle or if its sandy you can bury the triangle in the sand works really well we have 6 of these which we bought from Robert Saunders years ago when we did backpacking but been unable to find any more for sale so i ran a few up on the sewing machine

Hello and welcome!!

No tent peg holds as well as a Delta peg.

In fron of our tent doors I put two or three door mats like these which stops it getting muddy, which it will in the rain.

Hi,

I'd go.

Pegs - I've never bought special pegs to hold against bad weather, I think the important thing is to ensure you peg all pegging points and peg them correctly (double peg if bad weather is expected).

Former Scout's advice re. door mats is sensible, always best to keep wet and mud out of the tent.

Hope you have a great time.

Well if you are mad what am I we are going from Yorkshire to Cornwall this weekend? Stayed at Skip Sea Sands a couple of times and I would think it would be ok in bad weather. I cannot tell you how many times we have panicked just before going away because of weather and then when we get there it has been lovely weather and the one time it was bad we were with friends and it was one of the best weekends ever we still talk about it now it is known as bog fest 08.

Hmm. We went to Skipsea last August, and there had been a fair amount of rain beforehand, and it was really boggy. Luckily the weather wasn't too bad when we were there, so pitches dried out a bit, but I wouldn't like to think what it was like after all this continuous rain!

Yep, we must be mad too as we're off to Bridgnorth. The weather at home is going to be as bad as Bridgnorth but we don't care, we will still have Fun, Fun, Fun..!

Why can't we live in the tent..?
