Oh well, our group of 4 families with untold amounts of children will not be camping this fri / sat night. The camping and caravan club rang this morning (fri) to say the field is no good. I have to say I thought they might, the St Neots site is right on the river. To late for us to re arrange now, it was not easy getting a weekend with all four families together so we have decided to desend on the most central families house for sat/sun. The kids will camp in the garden while we all get drunk and talk about past camping trips and then try and sort out a weekend later in the school hols.
I was looking forward to turning up on site and blowing up my Vango airbeam again, it always gets a few good comments, I'm such a camping show off...

We have some very fussy campers, toilets, showers etc have to be spotless and the St Neots Cambridgeshire site is second to none. A couple of the families only ever camp once a year when we all get together. I'm sure if I tried I could find a site but I think the will is not there for a couple of the families...lol
Oh dear such a shame. On the up side, you will still all spend time together which is what it's all about. Fingers crossed you can arrange something else soon. Enjoy your boozy weekend

Tent drying is not a problem for me as I have a fair bit of space to put tents up at work...lol and I wish we were all still going but for some I think it has been a blessing. Strange thing is its not rained all day and I bet we only get a few showers over the next few days. Saying that the campsite really is right on the bank of a good sized river that floods the site quite often...lol

Hi Gary,
Have you tried Hertford C&CC? Big, flat and well drained... This was the first site we went to (we're not very far away from you!) and we wanted something local in case it all went wrong! Been back every year for the 1st camp of the season so far - Not got there this year yet though...
We went to St Neots for the first night away with our dog - Same reason, local enough to get home if needed.
Thought we were going to end up in a river while pitching this afternoon, thankfully the rains stopped here now. On the plus side though the Eternity is definately waterproof though...
I know your disapointed you cant go but we've just returned from a campsite which was completely waterlogged. We were due to go for ten days, stayed four and returned with lots of muddy kit and a wet tent to try and dry!! I think you made the right choice
:-)
