Me and the wife have got
http://www.outdoorworlddirect.co.uk/outwell-contour-xl-square-sleeping-bag.html

Best sleeping bag I've ever had, bit dear but priceless if you have a happy wife and son. With the uk weather I would go for season 3 & 4 after that it depend what type you prefer.

I sleep cold and use a 4 season bag all year round, I just unzip it if I get too warm! DD has a Gelert Pod, she loves the space but finds it not quite warm enough, so has a fleece blanket as well. Mummy bags are warmer than square ones and any liner will add warmth.

I have a Gelert sleeping pod and I absolutely LOVE it.  I have the XL size as I'm not the skinniest person in the world and hate feeling claustrophobic in a tight sleeping bag.  It is lovely and warm with loads of room for a hot water bottle   I would thoroughly recommend these.

Forgot to say that airbeds are cold, so put something over them like a fleece or picnic rug or even one duvet under and one over you.

The comfort ratings on sleeping bags are very subjective. Some people feel the cold more than others, so should compensate by going for a bag with a comfort rating at least 5 deg warmer.

I shivered in one or two bags before buying a Snugpak Elite 5. It has a comfort rating of minus 15 17 but only keeps me warm down to about freezing, and then only if I wear thermals. It has an extra panel to expand in warmer weather. I haven't had a cold night since I got it, although I have been too hot on occasions. Not cheap, but my best bit of kit.

Also, as mentioned above, it's just as important to insulate underneath you to stop the cold from the ground or the air in the airbed chilling you.

Have a search on the forum as well. There will be lots of useful information in previous posts. Some useful information here too.

I have the sleep cell bag, which is the same shape as the pod. I did order pods but they were out of stock, and I remember reading lots of reviews that said unless you are a fairly short adult, go for the xl, as you will not be able to straighten out easily. I love my sleep cell, which is 3season, but still always have a duvet on top. I really hate to feel cold!

Both hubby and I have the season 3 Gelert Pods and love them, loads of room to move about and keeps me warm enough so I don't need to wear layers in the bag. Well worth the money imo

As Armchair camper has already said people feel the cold differently and while one person will feel warm in bag x another will feel cold. Another factor is what you sleep on airbeds are cold so at least need to be insulated between the ground and the bed and some people like to put a fleece on top of the airbed as well. SIMs tend to be warmer as the foam provides the insulation.

We tried the Gelert pods and to be honest didnt get on with them the standard pod was to short for me and we all found them cold. We now use Outwell Camper Lux sleeping bags and our 2 boys have Outwell Contour 2300 all on airbeds with carpet underneath and have not had any complaints about being cold

Before buying a new sleeping bag, I would advise taking a look at your sleeping arrangement first.

If sleeping under a good duvet still resulted in being cold, perhaps heat was being lost from below, which can be addressed by added some form of insulation between the bed and the people sleeping on it.

I would go along with dk168 review your sleeping arrangements. We used to use Vango Nitestar 450 bags but Mrs Pitdiver still felt the cold. As explained on another thread we went the way of Carp fishing beds and matching fishing sleeping bags. Really toasty no complaints from Mrs PD.
