We bought a windbreak about four years ago it is still in its bag. I can't help but think they look very antisocial especially when those sitting behind them ignore you when you say hello

In very wet and windy Kent last week, our windbreak was put across the bedroom end of the tent, which was getting the full force of the wind. With the poles well hammered in and guyed, it stopped the wind and rain from hitting hard and prevented the fibreglass poles of the tent flexing too much and kept the tent stable. The thunder and lightening was a bit scary though! We have a Hi-Gear Gobi 4 with a Kalahari porch and they stayed dry inside despite torrential rain all night. Well done Hi-Gear!

Depending on the weather, I may try and put my tarp up so that it can provide shade as well as to act as a windbreak.

It is still new in its bag since I got it back in Oct 12, as I had not needed to use it this year yet due to the weather.

We use windbreaks as we like to make our own little space. Thats not to say that people aren't welcome or that we're anti social. It just means that you have to wait to be invited lol. We like to mix and meet new people but we also like our own space.

I only use mine around my cooking area, yet still you get the occasional why has the kettle not boiled yet? because its blown out!

My standard stripy beach style one has been specially modified to fit in the car I chopped a bit off so it fits in nicer having it at an angle was a massive pain in the a**e now it nestles nicely behind the seats.

I can understand the hideaway camper who likes a big windbreak around their site, makes sense if you have small escape artists (toddlers) or dogs, or simply want a bit of a privacy but i wouldn't leave it there all the time.

I would put it out if I was say on the corner pitch nearest the loo otherwise it can be a bit of annoyance with people coming by constantly.

each to their own I suppose, love the stone wall but I don't think i could carry that many rocks in the car would definitely need a trailer. I see they do a hedgerow too but i fear i may walk into that one on returning from the pub.
