hi all just a little enquiry going away tomorrow to devon. yippee. we noticed last year when we had pitched the tent that the windows seemed a little misty so we have been told from Go Outdoors that it would be ok to use Milton Sterilising solution to clean them any advice or thoughts would be welcome.

Looking forward to reading the replies to this.  We're off to Devon next Friday and the windows on our caravan awning will need a clean.  I usually just wipe the over with a damp cloth but they can look a bit 'smeary'

Read on this site before that you can buy some stuff for cleaning the plastic windows on soft top cars.

I've not tried it yet but I'm thinking of getting some.

I don't think I'd risk using Milton on the windows   As Valkrider says, use the stuff for cleaning plastic windows on soft tops - we bought one from Halfords last year to use on our trailer tent windows.

I can certainly tell you what NOT to use - washing-up liquid in water! Learn from my mistake which I made a few years ago - it makes them go cloudy.

I was going to try the plastic window cleaner for cars but tried disinfectant kithen wipes and they came up much cleaner but still slightly cloudy but i think thats due to the tent being 4 years old....

If you go to halfords and get some soft top widow cleaner. That works a treat. I have just used some on my tent and the windows came up a treat. It comes in a silver/grey squirty bottle

Microfibre/E-cloth? No chemicals required, just a bit of elbow-grease.

Does the plastic get abraded which is why they go misty?

I hadn't really thought about this but tbh I'm not sure I'd be too upset. I'm used to misty windows at home

Yes that is the stuff. Just spray it on and wipe it off with some kitchen towel

Ah, good thread, thanks for this. I was looking at mine when we were in Cornwall and jokingly asked my hubby whether he thought there might be a window cleaner come round the site..... will try and get some of this

One word of caution I’ve no idea what ingredients are used in the window cleaner and how they react with Canvas/Polycotton/Polyester. I personally would spray the product onto a cloth. Otherwise droplets from the spray may well go direct onto the fly sheet. As the product is desigined for soft-top plastic windows I would assume it should be fine...but just in case
