So whilst camping this weekend we came across a 'moral dilemma' and thought I'd throw it out there to see what others would have done.
The camping field had unmarked pitches but there was a designated pathway across to the facilities where even the light came on as you walked along it in the dark. A party of campers were put near this path and because they were so large they spread either side of this 'walk way'. Not their fault, just how it was. A lot of people still continued to walk directly through the middle of their 'pitch' even when there were sat in the middle socialising.
Now I just couldn't bring myself to walk through the middle of their pitch as it just felt wrong to me so I walked along the back edge of their pitch area to get to the path. It was also possible to walk a different way as well but it was a a definite long way around and also meant you had to cross the back of other peoples pitch areas or the middle of another group.
Guy lines weren't a problem ElizaD as they were folding campers along that bit. However walking the 'correct way' was actually more lethal due to trailing EHU cables.
The Giraffes, no the light only came on as you went down the steps on the edge of their pitch.
I'm amazed they were allowed to trail EHU cables across a designated walkway - health & safety etc! Where was the site warden? Strange that they were put in a place where they'd need to spread across a path. I don't want to be falling over, so I'd have walked whichever way seemed safer, even if it meant cutting through, sorry.
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!

Exactly as you did - I would have avoided being intrusive and invading other people's space.
Your instinct was to respect the privacy of your fellow campers - great! That sort of old-fashioned good manners and sensitivity may be on the decline these days but it is still something many of us value very highly.

It was the owners that allowed them to put the cables there. They were pretty laid back about most things but very friendly.

Why did they have to spread across the walkway?
They were put there because one of their party was using a site caravan and it was next to this area.
I had no problem with how much room they took, or that they went over the path as neither was their fault.
It was just one of those thoughts you have about what others would do so I thought I'd pose the question.
I would of walked around. i dont like be intrusive and dont like to be intruded upon. Although if they were spead across a designated walk way they should expect people to walk through.
