Has any one been to this festival? Only 3000 people in Monmouthshire. I am planning on taking the kids on my own next weekend and wonder what people think about me using my 4m bell tent there. Not really keen on spending money on another tent just for a one off festival It does seem very orientated-so does that mean my tent should be fine?

We went to Chagstock a couple of weekends ago.Another small festival (5500)lots of bell tents

Give them a ring and see what they say. We did Big Tent festival (wee family one) the other weekend. The only choice for one adult and one child was a small pitch 3m x 3m but I wanted to take a wee tunnel tent. They just said, "Well, we won't be going round with a measuring tape."

I'll pop it in the car & see-driving an L200 gives me the room! If they say no then it can stop in that. Really looking forward to Thursday & we're off. Will post pics when we get back. Little ones already have their fancy dress outfits sorted!

Go its brilliant, quite a few bell tents go, but also wigwams, frame tents etc. More proper canvas than an average campsite. Its great for kids as they love the circus tent and there is loads to do. Everyone is really friendly and all sit round a big camp fire and sing songs in the evening. Perfect festival if your on your own with the kids, I guarantee you will make some friends.  On the last night they have a lantern parade (from paper lanterns that you  can make yourself in one of the tents) and go off into the woods for a fire show.  Dont expect EHU! The whole event is run on solar and looks really magical at night with all the different event tents with twinkling LED's. We are probabally going to just go on the sunday as we can make a day trip of it and go if the weather is good.  Its a really laid back hippy feel and very safe.

Oh thanks for letting me know elanman. I am looking forward to it but also a little apprehensive as I'm on my own with the children. I've camped on my own with them lots but my last experience of a festival is V, so it's great to hear how safe it is. Would you advise taking the tarp too-with the very changeable weather at the moment-thinking of getting there on Thursday for a decent pitch.

Take the tarp but many of the piches are in the woods so take some extra guys to string from branches etc, I think if it rains you will be in the festival tents (or the stagger inn!) rather than back on the campsite. I never camped there but to me the campsite looks more of a place to sleep than a place to hang out. Its a million miles away from something like "V" more like a big group of friends getting together.  The site is quite well hidden so dont worry if it looks like your getting lost up a country track. Your kids will end up making friends too.
