Just got back from 3 nights with the kids. Only one mishap which happened on the last night. I spilt about half a litre of Apple Squash on the carpet. I soaked much of it up with a towel, which has washed beautifully.
What do I do with the carpet. The label says sponge with warm water, and squash is (obviously) water soluble. Any other ideas? I might turn the hose on it. The last thing I want is the carpet to be an ant/wasp attractor!
If you can still get 1001 carpet and upholstery cleaner use that just don`t over wet your carpet and don`t put too much of it in your water. This should work a treat
I've just checked and there's a cold wool wash setting on the machine. I may just check and see if I can stuff the whole thing in.
I've used 1001 before and I find it's a bit of a problem to get back out and properly rinsed afterwards. Also, I may not be able to find all of the squash. The reason it leaked so much is that it was half under a bag of clothes, I think that's what knocked it over. So all the clothes were soaked and there are other patches where the sticky bag was put down!
Always a problem with 1001 is to get all of it out afterwards that`s why I adivised not too put too much in your water, Aren`t tent carpets extremely expensive nowadays
Wouldn't fit in the machine after all. I *could* have completely stuffed it in, but I wasn't overly sure if the machine would have been overloaded or not. And I think with the plastic backing it probably wouldn't have got completely wet either.
So, it's spread out in the garden. But, in a radical departure, I read the instructions. Once it's dry, I'll try hoovering it... so far so good!
You could have put it in the bath if it didnt fit in the washing machine
------------- Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
I hang over the line, then sponge off any offending items, give it a good brush and then leave to blow through. My smaller bedroom ones I can lay out in the dining room and vac. You could easily attack it with the hose it would be fine. Or just leave it there for a day or two there is bound to be a torrential shower along soon
New plan - spray with 1001, sponge in, leave to dry, get distracted by kids, get it soaked in the rain, hang over line and wait for the rain to stop so it'll dry out...
