We're off on our first camping holiday at the beginning of September (Riverside Paddock on the Isle of Wight).  Am very excited!

Do we have everything we need:

Tent, footprint and carpet (a lovely Vango Icarus 600)

Airbed and sleeping bag

Cooker and kitchen stand

Crockery and cutlery

Table and stools

Electric hook up

My next purchases will be an electric light and some pots/pans.

What do you think - would you get anything else?  We're going for five nights.

thanks

Jen x

Yep, out list is about the same, give or take a few bits. We keep all out bits in plactic 'under the bed' type boxes so usually only have to add stuff that has run out or has a limited life.

Why can't we live in the tent..?

When I was writing out my list for my last trip I split it into areas and had a separate list for each area.

(a) bedroom pods
(b ) living area
(c) awning area
(d) essentials - passports, tent etc things I had to remember
(e) dog list

We were going to France, I could not risk forgetting something so went completly overboard with the list but it worked like a dream.

No Tent...? Bedding...? Chairs...? Cooking equipment...? Change of clothes..?

Do you just sleep under the stars whatever the weather smoking cigarettes and drinking (sitting on the grass of course)? I assume you have the same set up whether you go away for a weekend or a week, just take more beer & fags for a longer break..?

I think you could be onto something....

Riverside Paddock, Very Nice Campsite ! We stayed there the Last weekend in November. A pleasant walk into Newport alongside the river. As it was Winter we didnt walk to Cowes, but it is very do-able. In Summer it would be delightful, so don't forget your camera :-)

This was taken at Riverside:

I'm thinking that if you take enough beer, you could stack the cans nicely to make a shelter. Scatter the empty fag packets to make a soft bed. etc.

Mind you, this is academic - as I am currently trying to pack for our three kids I've had to sacrifice beer space to make room for cuddly toys. Grrr.
