We put socks and a fleecey jacket on top of PJ's for our twin grandkids (4 years old) they tend to do a fair bit of shuffling about in their sleeping bags so we leave those only part zipped up. No probs with cold kids so far (fingers crossed)

Our kids sleep on a double airbed with a thick duvet over them. PJ wise it's a t-shirt under a onesie, they haven't complained yet & we've had a mixture of weather17

When ours were little we used to take woolly hats for them to wear at bedtime.

At Easter, we camped in 5 degree temperatures and we did we need a woolly hat in bed, plus layers galore.

Just returned from a camping trip in Somerset, we were lucky with the weather and it was hot in the day, cloud cover and rain at night. My son wore cotton long PJ bottoms and a T-shirt style vest and he was too hot. We took a fleece blanket each just incase but didn't need. We certainly didn't need our hats!

Mine sleep in normal nighties/pyjamas in mummy bags.  Socks and fleece jackets at the ready just in case but haven't needed them this year yet.

We garden camped at the weekend - temps around 15 - 7 & 3 yr olds wore normal pjs. 5 yr old just wore knickers (she's like that...). Vango 2 - 3 season bags. All were fine.

When we go away properly, there are fleece pjs and blankets on hand, whether we need them or not!

We are off camping on Monday and middle son will be taking his usual cotton and fleece PJs plus an extra blanket just in case.
He says his onesie will be too hot (he never seems to feel the cold!)

I have one warm blooded child (8) and one cold blooded (6)!

Warm blooded slept in just pants, cold blooded kept a t-shirt on. That was in Tesco brand sleeping bags. No socks. They didn't even really sleep in their sleeping bags!

They should be fine in just ordinary long sleeved pyjamas at this time of year. Many people make the mistake of wraping their children up too warm when camping assuming they will be cold. Have some socks handy for nighttime and maybe a spare blanket but only use them if they say they are cold.

Poundstretcher have some blankets on offer for 9.99
they are double size, really soft and cuddly in various colors. I am going to get one each for my girls. Last year when i camped and it was cold at night my girls used to love me swaddling them in their sleeping bags with a blanket also, made them feel secure and snuggly! They are 12 and 11.

When I camp with kids, I ask them what the weather's like and if they feel warm or cold. Our four year old loves routine so usually wears pyjamas, the other two 7 & 11 think that sleeping in their clothes is the best treat ever!

The best advice is to leave a big pile of spare clothes within reach so they can wake up in the dark and stick a jumper or t-shirt on if they get cold in the night. (Or so you can find it if you're woken at 3am!)

HTH

Graham
