We tend to go to new places when we camp so we go out everyday exploring the area. We pick areas based on historic sites and have a list of must sees in the area. As long as we do all of those we will spend time on site but never a whole day. I am the sort who cannot sit on a beach for a whole day, so boring, I need to be doing something or I go mad

Depends of things like the weather/the site and if there is anything that we particularly want to do in the area.
Last week we spend a lot of time just sitting in the tent as it was so wet.   Other than shopping we went out the once to go on the little steam railway - something that we said we would do in the area.
Had the weather been better we might have done some walking but still spend time on site, as Alice loved playing in the lake.

Our neighbours had come to the site to do stuff in the area and had traveled quite a distance, so they were out every day.

We seldom stay at a site for more than 3-4 days, usually just 1 as we move on each day. We try to find a site within cycling distance of shops, town or village, beach, river or canal.
So our days include walking or cycling to shops, maybe a leisure outing included. If the weather is hot and we have a good book, we just sit on the site and read.
And of course there is always a bit of housework to do, washing up, preparing food, keeping things clean.
When we had the tent and were moving on every day, there was all the putting up and down to keep us busy and exercised!

Good question frogsdropping!   I do enjoy going out and about, especially visiting somewhere I havn't been before.   It depends on the weather as well.   I will try and balance it out, so I don't feel as if I need another holiday.   I enjoy taking it easy,

I am hoping to go to Beddgelert again in October.  We both love it there.  I will be mainly staying put, but will go into the village to have a mooch.  Take the k9 for his daily walks in the forest.  Just generally relaxing.  Listening to music, reading, and a glass of wine,  and not forgetting the BBQ and marshmellows.
