We have a monty 6 which is quite old and use it whatever the weather.
It use to really wind me up packing our old bear lake up in the rain and it just took too much time.We now take minimal now and only all our stuff for our main 2 week holiday in august. We also used to have a trailer for our stuff but again getting it all wet setting up was annoying.
We have a van now and just throw it all in and sort out properly when we get home.Same as you fran really all away night before and tea and toast in morning.
I cant understand those people that pack up and go home early due to rain.We live in UK!!
Get an old tent like we did for rubbish weather.
Well on our recent trip away which we were told no arrivals before 3, to which we arrived at roughly 3.30. So i enquired on out last full day about a last check out which wasn't available but told we should be ok till 12 (having read times of 10 and 12 in their own info packs.) To then find the new arrivals there at 10am a staggering 5 hours early. I know we all hope to get on our pitches a bit earlier than quoted but 5 hours they we're pushing it really.
We packed up early this week (should have left weds but left Mon) and it took us 4hrs in driving rain and very windy gusty weather! we lost the utility before we even started to pack it...but I think I can save it with tenacious tape and a few new poles!!!
Everything is wet, we managed to dry some equipment out yesterday but I have still a kitchen full of damp bedding (in process of washing along with the clothes)
We were told 2.30pm was earliest to arrive but whilst there I noticed several had arrived pitched and gone off for day by 12noon!!
I camp on my own with 2 young children and it only takes me about 45 minutes to pack ready to go home. It helps that I have a pickup truck though as I just throw the tent in the back and either dry it and pack it when I get home or just pack it if I'm lucky enough to have taken it down dry.
We try to pack up and be gone by 10ish to try and squeeze in another day of sightseeing. Unpacking once we get back is a nightmare though as we tend to just bung everything in the car!
