We are going on our first ever camping trip tomorrow to a site just outside of York. We are going for two nights and are thoroughly looking forward to it.

Things haven't gone smoothly up till now BUT we finally think things are in place and are a bit more relaxed.

The original idea was to book through the SUN newspaper £1 a night offer. But all was not as it seemed most sites were very restrictive and the offers were only available after the kids returned to school. So after many wrong turns we eventually got booked up (no offer though, thanks The Sun!)

The misses has begged and borrowed loads of stuff this included a tent! A Ridgewalker 6 berth (more like 9 if you ask me) no instructions and no help anywhere to be seen.

We honestly did not know where to start but gave it a go. With two failed attempts at pitching it later and with much frustration we gave up and decided to head to the Local GO outdoors shop.
Time was now running out and we had to sort something so after many hours of internet searching we decided to get an Outwell. "That one there for £279 will be fine" she said. "Ive checked online they have it in stock"

No they didn't and after much deliberation a montanna 6P was in the car along with more stuff!

Mind you It pitched like a dream and is a belter so now we are set to go. One great thing about this tent. The instructions are stitched onto the inside of the bag! (not that we needed them) if only the Ridgewalker had that!!!!

I guess you didn't read the small print then.
Glad you got everything sorted, now you need a bigger car, roof box and a trailer

have a great time. we're new to camping this year and have survived high winds, monsoonish rains, mud from a festival and swarms of midgies. being prepared meant we were ready for most things.

when you get home, you can  tell us all about it. then when you start to think about next year try a week at pentewan sands cornwall great site if you like lots to do in the evenings. camping almost on the beach great stuff see you there.
