Found this solution regarding packing, transporting and storing bulky bedding and towels. We have 4 Outwell Camper sleeping bags which we love but they are so bulky and the blue bags they come in don't compress them that much and the zips are rubbish!
I know everyone knows about these bags but what to do when packing up to come home and you have no vacuum and your electric airbed pump just doesn't have the power? (sounds like a JML advert)
The double action pump with a bit of an adaptor from another electric pump (tesco one) fits over the valve of the space bag and it sucks out as much air as my Dyson vacuum! This also fits in the Space Bag Tote.
This solution has halved the amount of space they take up in the cupboard and roofbox/boot.
The Space Bag Tote is £22.99 from Argos and it's these little solutions that save a lot of space - it may have saved me getting a new car and trailer to go with it!
I have some cheap vac bags from poundland (although the rubbery ones from tesco are better but cost more) I load the bag up open the valve and roll the bag as I do the sims (While kind of sitting on them!) this pushes the air out and once I've rolled it to the valve I close it up. It may not be as tight as with a pump or vacuum but it does compress them enough for us.
Tynxuk - great idea! I sit on the bag to get most of the air out then use the pump to suck out the rest. Problem now is that kids have seen me try one of their big cuddly toys - now they want to take more cuddly toys! Back to square one!
