The combination of wind & rain makes it a no no for us.  We had several hours of rain each day in Bakewell & Clitheroe (resulting in 3 wet pack ups) & found it hard work tbh, even going to the wash up or shower block became unpleasent.

Net weather is showing windy & wet conditions next week for our hoped for trip to the Galloway coast so we will delay it & see if the week after improves.

Maybe when you can be flexible, you become more fussy so do miss out going as often as you would like.  However when the weather is bad & folk have already paid up & taken time off work etc, I do feel for them.  This year seems to have been worse than last, hardly any Saturday has been dry around here this year!

Even if we have had a nice day, it's been pouring down the next!  Rubbish British summer..........again

We tent to be "we've booked, we're going" types. I get too exited not to go. We have only ever left a site a day early once, it just got too wet inside the tent. Although we only camp between April and sept/oct. I wouldn't consider us to be fair weather campers, but I wouldn't consider us to be hardy all weather campers either, is there one in the middle?

We've only ever cancelled once and that was on the advice of the site owners. We generally go whatever the weather, as if we didn't we wouldn't have a holiday! All I ask is a dry day packing up and if possible one for setting up, but that's not as important. Although as I type this I'm sat watching the people who've just arrived next to us setting up in pouring rain and wind - not good! It's been quite blustery and heavy rain last couple of days, but I've still enjoyed myself, even just sat in the tent listening to it, whatever the wather it's got to be better than being at work!

Bit of both!

Camped at May in -3 overnight temps, Keswick in constant rain and had strong winds in on our last outting!  Saying that, we did cancel at Easter due to bad forecast and if we fancy a weekender decision is made on forecast too.

This year for our main holiday we didn't book until the last minute and went with the weather, which turned out really nice. We do a lot of weekends with clubs and scouts and you can't unfortunately pick those ones so you are stuck with what the weather throws at you. We always manage to have fun though so not all bad.

Apart from our annual Hols abroad, we go camping every Whitsun, August B/H and 3 pre-booked weekends in between, we look at the weather forcast just as a matter of interest but take no notice at all, and always go.

Had we have acted on the forecast for last week end for the New Forest (rain 3 solid days out of 4) we would have stayed at home, but in reality we had rain on 3 nights  and a couple of hours during Sat morning, the rest of the time was great, pitched and struck camp in the dry.

I have lost count of the number of times when bad weather has been forecast and it's turned out fine, had we gone by the forecast we would have stayed at home and then missed the good weather, perhaps we have just been very lucky, but the weather does appear more stable down here in the South.

Our Motto, once booked: GO

There is no such thing as bad weather, just ill prepared campers!!!

Sometimes you can't tell what the weather is going to be like.  Everyone would like decent weather, to really enjoy the experience of camping.   I don't mind a bit of rain or wind.  I have camped when it has been horrendous, with driving rain and high winds.  As long as I have some nice days to make up for it.

If it driven rain and winds for 24/7 and being holed up is not fun for anyone.   I have up graded my tent which has a larger living area with plenty of space, in turn has made it more comfortable.  Having EHU in this situation does make it easier.

A family I know have come back from Cornwall they had terrible weather,  in which not only battered and flatterened their tent, but many others on the site. Not a lot of fun.

I'll go whatever the weather, but I can completely understand that if you have children and the forecast is rain for days on end you might need to cancel!

Mostly any weather. I am lucky in that I can usually get the odd Friday or Monday off at short notice, so I do try to go when the weather is going to be good. However, if I am going with other people who aren't so flexible, I'll usually go whatever the weather, unless a gale is forecast.

If you let the weather dictate too much in this country, you don't get anything done.

Like others I have my horror stories to tell...and again like others if I had listened to the weather forecasters this year I would never have gone anywhere....and missed out on some fantastic breaks away(even in dodgy weather)

Not having transport...and usually hiring a van well in advance and a sketchy time off rota at work has made my decisions to go whatever the weather is doing this year...I don't consider myself an all weather camper...There are some conditions I will not venture out in..extreme cold being one of them....But I have had some great times this year purely and simply because I have gone on all trips planned this year despite the foul weather...

Jelboy.

We are generally last minute campers so don't go if it is forecast to rain, but if we have booked a longer break, then we still go no matter what the forecast.

Ah.. I have camped in wind and rain, after all it is the British weather. I prefer the dry, but hey ho, the wellies come into use and we get on with. I have yet to erect and dismantle a tent in high winds so maybe I will change my mind at some point.

FAIR WEATHER CAMPER HERE!!!

I have no desire to sit in a field, with the rain lashing it down during the daytime on our camping trips. I love to camp, and I mostly love it because we are outside and the boys are just out and about for the entire daylight hours. Rain puts paid to that, I hate the rain and the cold, so no camping for me if raining or its forecast to be cold.

If it was obviously very very windy I wouldn't go but rain doesn't bother me. I love sitting in the tent watching the rain pool and then run off at Easter it was raining so hard ( and it was COLD) hubby and I looked at the rain, looked at each other and just burst out laughing. We were cold and damp but we still had a great time

we dont mind the rain,it's part of camping,we once got to one of the c&cc temp. sites, got the tent laid out on the floor, and the heavens opened up,by the time we had our tent up.we were totally drenched, but we laughed about it,worst thing was,my wife had left the boot open, and all our clothes were wet as well.we are off to Cornwall on the 10th,and we dont give a monkeys what the weather is going to do,as we just need the family time, and get away from the grind
