Hi all OH has just managed to get a week off work in mid Oct so we have decided to go to the lakes. Dilema. Our Corado 4 is fab, but is just too bigand cold when the weather turns chilly, so I could do with some advice on a smaller tent which will be nice and cosy but we won't be jammed in like sardines.I have been looking at Vango Beta 450 and Omega 450 but am unsure about the groundsheet setup as I must confess to being a fan of SIG's, Any advice or further suggestions would be great.

I have just bought a Vango Beta 350 so i guess the set up is the same.
The sleeping area has a full SIG and the groundsheet for the porch area is attached (sewn in) to the sleeping area but then rolls out to fill the porch area with attachements for the poles and pegs that make up the porch area, so the wind/cold etc will come through the porch as its not a full SIG.
Can't comment on the Omega. have you looked on Youtube - their videos often explain this type of thing.

If you want a tent of similar size from Vango I'd go with the Icarus 400 as it has a full sewn in ground sheet. If you get the 2012 version it is standing height too.

We have a Equinox 450 and when we use it for just me and OH . We take the front pod out plenty of room for 2 the inner tent is a full bath tube sewn in affair but no ground sheet in the porch . My dad has The Omega 450 which does have a sewn in ground sheet . Both are plenty big enough but small enough to blend in on a backpacking site . We'll be using the 450 this weekend and probably right through the winter . Only using our tipi and stove when its proper cold

Thanks for the replies, just had a look at the Icarus and it seems to fit the bill as well. My local camping shop have the Icarus and Omega in stock so you know where I'm going after work tonight...
Don't we all just love looking for new tents !

The new Betas have a 'Linked in Groundsheet' so shouldn't be drafty like the older models.

Second hand canvas tent (Cabanon Calais) if you can find one. Much warmer than Poly.
