Hi all I was just wondering if anyone has tried to make a front for a tent extension so as to make it more like an awning. Reason for this is we were caught out with winds and rain coming from every point of the compass and it aint fun when you're cooking and getting soaked. Extension in question is for a monty 6.
------------- Dance before the storm and don't look back to where you've been.
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, you obviously haven't grasped the gravity of the situation.
unsure what a Monty 6 is, but I remember my Mum making a tent door-porch into a full awning (canvas) back in the sixties. So it's definitely do-able
Youll need suitable fabric to fit the space quality thread and extra long zips (PointNorth has them ) a good sewing machine and quite a bit of 'house-room'
------------- Still trying to get the packing right.
on my outwell nevada extension i used cling-ons to attach two overlapping pieces of heavy clear plastic to stop rain coming in the front - worked quite well - did the same with some mosquito nets in warm weather to keep nasty wasps outa the tent!!
Not quite the same thing as such, but we have a Hi Gear Voyager 10 and a Zenobia Porch
The Porch doesn't quite offer a snug fit and there is a gap either side due to the way the poles intersect each other
However we managed to get hold of a Rock 5 Canpoy, which is very similar to the porch but without the front door
I have been testing this in the back garden as to make a front canopy so we can cook it that and if need be keep the zenobia door closed, but it ends up being like a tunnel porch. I quite like the concept and it all appears to work quite well
hi dodge, why not buy the outwell montana front awning with the closed - in front?
iv got the bear lake 6 and iv got the front extension for it, but its open ended.
the montana front extension fits the bear lake - so im waiting to see if outwell are going to offer a montana lake ( polycotton ) front awning which ill buy to fit over the front of the bear lake!
