To Poppy:
Oh yeah! I read the Chalet series too, when I was a girl! Lovely original idea for a school story, and great fun! Thanks for reminding me.
To CampingNutcase:
Poor Comet! And poor you!
To Fran 1000:
No, I haven't read "Boogie Up The River". Sounds like a delightful cross between both the books I mentioned. Can't wait to get my hands on a copy. Thanks for the suggestion!

Now the nights are drawing in, and the window for camping trips is getting smaller, I wondered what would be your favourite lighthearted camping reads? I vote for a book called The Tent, the bucket and me. Could you recommed any other similar type reads, to keep the camping spirits up??
I am reading this at the moment, and though I sure she must have embellished on some of the stories, it really is a laugh out loud book.
Not strictly camping but a family with toddlers travel 8000 miles around Britain researching a child friendly tourist guide.

I read very little, in all honesty. I think it's a concentration thing!
When I do give it a go, it's normally footy biographies, or that ilk.
My proudest moment was when we left the pictures a few years back, after watching the Da Vinci code, and for the one and only time in my life, I could utter the phrase "It wasn't as good as the book"!! Jeez... that was hard work!!
Anyway....
On the recommendation of this thread (and somewhere else, but can't remember where), I recently purchased the Tent Bucket and me..... and even that San Francisco follow up. (Along with two more footy biographies!)
The pair of us will be lain poolside on the Med this time tomorrow.... and we ain't coming back until they are read!
They'd better be good.... and easy on the brain..... I've only got a fortnight!!
