Any thoughts on how to keep the tent cool in summer.

Again going to be at dog shows so no means of ehu. I was wondering if there was some sort of reflective sheet I could put over the tent. Not concerned about myself thinking of my dogs inbetween runs.

there was a thread on here awhile ago that said on the continent they put a large tarpoline over their tents....

i took this to mean not sat directly on top of their tent but i imagine held up by some kind of king poles so the tent was allways in the shade...

also id say lots of ventilation is a must..

A dog show attending/caravanning friend of mine commented that she was thinking of buying a pop up tent for her dogs for shade, without having much of a clue about these things (she's probably never been in a tent in her life). I nicely put her right, she'd no idea that a tent would heat up. I suggested a gazebo instead, you can get childrens ones as well as full sized ones. If you had a big one you could probably get away with only sleeping in your tent, setting up the gazebo as a living space with windbreaks to keep out the worst of the breezes. If you had a kiddies sized one you could pitch it low down for the dogs.

Best solution........

Get a cotton or polycotton tent. The difference is huge !

Warm weather, in England? I'll have a pint of what you've had! Not had a half decent summer for six years here in Yorkshire, only rain and cold, thank Heaven for Easyjet!!

What about putting dogs in cage with a tarp pitched over the top? that way you have shade & air.this sort of thing. Any camping shop will stock them.
