Have to say that I would never be happy to use a gas heater in a tent, whatever is said about their supposed safety, we only ever use a fan heater with a cut out if it gets knocked over, even then I am fanatical about keeping it well away from any accidental contact with fabrics or sleeping bags, just in case.
I agree that there definitely needs to be more done to get the message across regarding safety in tents, especially with the huge growth in popularity of camping over the last few years.

We wouldn't even dare put the stove on inside, just to boil a kettle, and keep it "outdoors", with an extinguisher to hand, so a gas heater is a definite no as far as we are concerned.
Naked flames, canvas, uneven surfaces, confined spaces, cluttered living space, trip hazards and ruffled carpets do not mix, imo!!!
And for once, I decided that for myself, and didn't need anyone to point out the dangers!!
However, it seems that there are still folk out there that seemingly do need to be advised every inch of the way, so as obvious as the risks are, as these risks could potentially affect any one of us (if we were in the next tent, for example) then yes, more info needs to get out there..... for everyone's sake!
PS:
Just one other point....
As sensible as the advice was, on this occasion, should we really be listening to someone who owns "...several giant African snails.....all called Gary!!! )

Mucker 1884, I just spat my tea out all over the table, and yes, it is probably extremely unwise to listen to me, take it from my kids
