Hi there camping friends just recently bought an outwell lanni reef, just wondering if anyone could advise me on any waterproofing products that would suit this tent. The tents fabric is Outtex Airtech (65% cotton 35% polyester). thanks
I could be mistaken on this request, but I thought this was a 2012 tent. If so, it should not require waterproofing yet, or for some time. Unless it is an ex display model.

I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
yes your right it is the 2012 model so i should not worry about applying any extra waterproofing products? just thought it would add extra protection from the rain.I have never owned a tent with this material so all advise would be much appreciated.
You shouldn't have to think about waterproofing for another five years, maybe more, so relax and enjoy your new tent & pray that we'll get a much better summer this year for camping

Your tent is made of Polyester not polycotton, and has a waterproof membrane on the inside of the flysheet so unless you damage it in some way it should never need reproofing.

The only reason that could be taken into account, is that Fabsil and at least some of the other waterproofing solutions, also give a degree of protection against UV rays, which they claim will extend the usable life of the fabric.

being 'proofed' on the 'inside' of this fabric... would the 'external' proofers 'take' on this fabric??
"Your tent is made of Polyester not polycotton"
foot note...
just looked at 'Nikwax'.....
suitable for...
"All nylon and synthetic tents, awnings, marquees, rucksacks, panniers, camera bags."
» "Suitable for breathable tent fabrics."
so perhaps it will.... I have not ever used a proofing agent so I have no idea what it is like...some will have experienced it for sure ??
You pretty much answered your own question there don-maureen. The only reason for using say Fabsil on a non leaking polyester tent is to encourage the water to bead and prevent it from looking saturated when wet, makers also claim it contains a UV inhibitor as well

nothing.... unless it is proved it is 'leaking' and not just condensation...
when a tent is 'pitched right' there should be no sagging on the roof or 'pull' wrinkles diagonally on the sides... this tent will not leak... roofs are shaped to run water off and the sides should be smooth to allow it to run down.
