Hi, bought a Voyager 6 tent off the infamous Alchemisticltd and had it up overnight. It was advertised as leaking, but seems to have stood up to rainand snow well. Only issues are that the zip on the ffront door is broke (go outdoors told me £15 to repair) and there is a lot of mould around the front of the tent, especially on the windows.

I emailed the seller and he said I could return it but I will have to pay return postage. I only paid £21 inc postage so it won't be worth it.

I have seen lots of people mentioning Milton, is this the sterilising fluid, the antibacterial spray or something else?

Thank you

Welcome to the site.
Be very careful when cleaning canvas. There is a heated debate on here as to whether reproofing is a good or not good. Much foaming of the mouth from the pro and anti lobby, so I will not go down that route.
I would suggest a cautious approach.

1) try warm soap free water and a soft brush on the area, and wipe off with cloth. Repeat several times if necessary
2) If you feel you are getting nowhere, perhaps a very mild" Milton solution could be used.
3) If desperate go for one of the proprietary mould removers

You will need to reproof using 2) onwards

I've got a mouldy tent too .... store damp by previous owner been dryed out in the dinning room over a couple of weeks with it being moved daily

I'm going down the diluted milton and then reproofing with Fabsil

got the milton, got the Fabsil (5L) just need the weather and somewhere to do it ..... trip to my Mum's on the cards for that as no room for a 4m wide 6m long tent in my back yard

should be fine as it's all about killing the mould it may effect the waterproofing that why you reproof it after.

after my last post I looked out the window and as a result I've taken the little one to see her Grandmother and my tents been partly up for a proper look at it and whilst the is the odd spot of mildew/mould but nowhere as bad as I though ....... needs a bit of work but not as much as I thought which was nice.

the only problem is that my Mum's back garden is just a little too narrow so now I need to find another place to pitch it when I want to do some work on it ...... Local park may have to be an option

Thanks for all the advice. Just had a call from go outdoors regarding the zip and it will be £40 to repair so might try to get the tent sent back and hope seller covers postage. Or sweet talk him into sending me a replacement outer :) and of course I will send this one back as that will be cheaper
