The perfect tent you describe is a large frame tent A spacious living area, very easy to pitch (I've pitched our 13'5"x17'5" Cabanon on my own), cool in the sun (& warmer in cold weather), can certainly take more of a battering than most modern tents, and it's the right shape to fit on a normal pitch. There you are, problem solved
I haven't found a cure for my obsession yet, and all the tents I've got are perfect for different types of holiday, so you will probably end up with at least three or four perfect tents too. Good luck

yes thanks had been looking at frame tents, will check that modle out
There is hope richiewake as we only have 2 tents, our first Gelert a polyester and our dream tent a poly/cotton cabanon biscaya.
The Gelert hasn't seen the light of day since we got our biscaya.
We might buy a weekend tent one day but not yet.
And like others have said the perfect set up is the one around the corner that you keep chasing due to ukcs members always posting links to other fab gear that is the next must have.
There does come a time when you find a tent you love, have the set up that works for you and really don't need anything else.....but it takes a while, and even when you have it, you don't stop looking.
I've got almost everything that I want, (an extension is the only thing I want), and definitely everything I need (there is a huge difference) but I have still managed to acquire 2 tents I don't need but had to have as they were such bargains (£10 and £35 respectively!) They will get used tho and that's the main thing!
There really is no hope once you get the camping bug, tent envy is one of the worst symptons, as is slippery finger when looking at goods that have been mentioned on here!
Good luck with your illness....and welcome to the world of tentaholics
I was quite happy with my 'Coleman Weathermaster L' for quite a few years. Then last year found this site and decided to get an Outwell Nevada M which seemed to get lots of good reviews. Very quickly decided it was not quite big enough so have the Nevada XL... plus awning.
Thanks to this site..... decided that polycotton was the way to go, so got an Outwell Clear lake. But its not a 'weekend' tent so added an Outwell Niagara falls to the collection (great tent by the way). Fell in love with the cotton fabric, so have just got a Yosemite Falls!!!
Please Help.
------------- Current tent line-up (all outwell)
Yellowstone falls - for week or more
Clear lake - Flyball team entertainment
Cedar lake - not been used yet!
Trout lake 6 - short weekend trips
Trout Lake 4 - for just me and the dog
Concorde L
