We once forgot to pack the airbeds. Tent was up and starting to put all our stuff in, and daughter asked wheres the airbeds (this used to be her job to pump them up).
We were 1 1/2 hours from home, so i jumped in the car and went back home and got them. Just got back to the site as it was getting dark!!!!!

Shampoo, last weekend I went camping I was packing my toiletries bag and took two bottles from the bathroom cabinet. Well it turned out they were both conditioner, not the shampoo and conditioner I thought. I only found out when I was in the shower and there wasn't much I could do about it then!
Duvets and pillows, last Easter, hubby was supposed to have packed them, was the coldest night of camping ever, on so many levels, trip to Morrisons for cheapo ones the next day.
We went for a spontaneous trip camping to the new forest to make use of the last nice weather of the year. Left after we finished work but we were in such a rush that we forgot to check that we had batteries so ended up with nothing to put in the battery powered lamp or the air bed inflator! It was already dusk and we were unpacking in limited light. Luckily the campsite had a shop and was still open and they had one pack left!

Awning poles on our old TT! although in our defence they never did materialise .
We had only just bought it and it was our first camp out, most TTs are useable without the awning but ours had no 'standing space' between bedrooms they came straight out into the awning so really a necessity in the cold and wet (which it was). As we couldn't contact the seller and it was over an hours drive back we bought a cheap £20 gazebo and just put it up under the awning canvas, not pretty but functional for the few days we were there.
We are also of the schoool of "two sets of everything - one for camping, one for the house".
Despite having a list, there's usually something we forget. Normally as we hit the first A-road, we go through the list of "did you pack the...?" but never forgotten anything Earth-shatteringly important. (Well apart from one occasion when we forgot to pack the gas. It's a good job we always keep a spare in the boot!)
Mr Riff did forget to pack spare pants on one trip last year, but only realised when we'd got the tent up and were unpacking our clothes. Fortunately, there was a supermarket nearby to spare his blushes!
------------- ...after all an awning is just a three-sided tent!
My O/H always moans that I take too many clothes and insisted on packing his own stuff for our month away in France, one year, in order to demonstrate what a frugal wardrobe he actually needs.Came downstairs with a half-empty small holdall and packed it easily into the car, looking all smug.
Several hours into our journey down to the tunnel, I asked him which tops he'd brought with him. He thought about it for a while, then admitted he'd forgotten all about tops!
We had to visit the nearest Decathlon, when we got there, to kit him out!
