I'm looking for a new weekend tent, I have used outwell durawrap before and they are sturdy, but how do Vango poweflex compare. Could be one of the key factors

powerflex poles wouldnae hold a hankie up in strong sneeze! Go for Durawrap

Thanks Jim, I'm looking at the Tigris 600. It has an 8.61
rating on here, but nobody has mentioned a problem with the poles

The main difference is the way Outwell "wrap" their fibreglass poles with an extra flexible layer kind of like the old fashioned electric cable. This makes them more durable. The Vango poles will be fine 95% of the time but I have had a few crash and burn on me in a high wind.

Not used Outwell ones but only ever (on 4 wynnster tents) had 1 Wynnster durawrap pole split on me, compared to loads of "normal" poles on the one Vango tent i owned.

One make of pole versus another shouldn't really come into question unless you are considering using Durawrap poles on a Vango tent or Powerflex poles on an Outwell. Structural loading is the biggest factor at play here, I.e. the pole's diameter, the span of the pole length, the weight and area of material the pole is supporting, and other supporting factors helping the poles integrity I.e. guying points, wind-shedding ability of the design and of course how well the tent is pitched!.

So I would expect a Tigris to be structurally stronger than say an Icarus with a longer pole span. And of course Outwell do have a very good reputation. But I would bet the poles themselves have pretty similar properties.
