Oh dear, OH is now looking up holiday cottages and caravans, obviously my moaning is taking its toll on him, our house is a little on the frosty side..........

Am I being unreasonable though ? It's flipping freezing out there !

It is true that its cold out there, but when we have been winter camping we have taken heaters - the gas ones that screw onto a gas canister cant remember the name of them - and plenty of layers and tbh have been warm in our tent. We do have a polycotton tent tho and do believe these to be warmer :) we found that the worst point was actually getting into bed, but use hot water bottles, a double sleeping bag with a 12.5 tog quilt over the top and are soon nice and toasty :)

At the end of the day you have to do what's right for you and there is no fun in being miserable whilst you are away.

Hope the frost soon thaws :)

Dawn that's a great idea about the quilt, I just wonder though if deep down he doesn't really fancy the cold either !!

I have been camping since last Wed 27 Mar, and night time temperatures were sub-zero.

However, I have EHU, a fan heater, sleep on camp bed with a SIM on top, with a 12 Tog double all season duvet over me, wear PJs, neck scarf, hat and socks to bed, snug as a bug with the heater on low throughout the night.

The weather had been kind, dry with light winds. Perfect camping weather despite the rather low temperatures.

Very glad to have camped over Easter, as the site is quiet. Tonight, there is just my tent in a big field!

Camping in the cold is not for everyone, however, it suits me.

Good luck with whatever the OP decides.

DK

Mmmmm, dk168 you make it sound so lovely, perhaps we could do it and enjoy it, btw, Devizes is a beautiful part of the world, I am envious, I would love to live there, anyway, we have EHU, and a heater and electric blankets thanks to my father who dug them out of his wardrobe so watch this space ?......

Go for it clare.

Do a bit of research on here, search such things as "winter", "snow", and "heater", in the camping forums.... you won't regret it!
