I have a standard electric coolbox which runs off the car but would like to change the lead so I can use it in the tent with the ehu. Can I do this as im sure ive read something on here about this and if so what lead do I get ...?
Hi
You can buy a transformer so you can run it off 240 volts Coleman, Kampa and campingaz to name a few all do them. We bought the Coleman one off Ebay for £10 it comes with 240v plug, lead and transformer which has a female socket on it to plug your 12v lead into

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Also if you have a Kampa cool box go for a Kampa converter and the same goes for Coleman/campingaz etc etc, the reason I say this is they should all be able to use each others adaptors but sometimes the plug on the cool box might not fit that well in the adaptor if you use a different brand to the cool box.
Go outdoors sell them for about £20 new, they have a fuse too so they are protected against surges in electricity, I've been using mine with all sorts of things including, cool box, phone charges, sat nav (charging) and a few other things, I find it handy to get the cool box cool before I set off on a long journey,
I have found that it is the plug on the cool box that becomes a bad fit into the socket on the convertor, and to the socket in the car.A problem that is easily solved with the ubiquitous elastic band trick.Wrap the band round the plug and convertor so a permenant contact is maintained.
