I hate air beds apart from the lack of trust I have in them ie that sinking feeling at 3am . They can be cold but as some have probably pointed out there are ways round that issue . The whole blowing them up with an asthmatic pump or a buzzy 12v both are annoying at any time never mind in the wee small hours . We have SIMs and Insulation mats . Never any issues even a leak in a sim is not going to mean you have a totally sleepless cold night !
It's a personal choice as to what suits you . How you camp were you camp and of course how much space you have to carry all this stuff .

I've always put a blanket between the air bed and the ground, until the weekend i've never been cold! But for me it'll probably be easier to put a blanket under the sheet on the airbed as the kids move the airbeds shifting the blanket underneath...my OCD needs it to be all tidy lol

We'll minimise thermal transfer from the ground to the bed with a multi-layer approach underneath it, then have a thick fleece throw on top of the bed, under our double bag.
If we're cold with that in the Dordogne in July, I'll go buy a campbed.
I made that last bit up.

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it
