Oh I get it - its for when you dont have eyelets only peg tabs. The name is a bit misleading.

Originally that was the aim, where awnings had eyelets for pole spikes. I just use them for tidiness, and to keep the guy loop in place. Others may not bother. Clearly, with a sudden shower, rain would get in a tent open door anyway. But in that case, I'd drop the door.

So....
In the pic, these "washers" are on top of the guy and eyelet/peg tab.
Yet to "stop the peg tab and guy line from sliding down the pole", these "washers" would need to go on first, below the eyelet/peg tag and guy line?

At the moment, I tend to thread the pole spike through, then wrap it around a few times, to stop them falling (or lifting, for that matter, or in case the pole gets knocked). I'm talking tarps, but same difference!

I may be able to get something from work that could do this job, subject to hole size being suitable for the spike.

That's how we've always used them, sort of like a ski pole. The grommet/washer/mushroom/whatchimacallit goes on first and then the peg tag/bungee and then the guy rope. Works for us
