I've got a Kyham Rigidome which I bought in approx. 2004.  I don't want to get rid of it because despite its age its in excellent condition, but there are a few niggly bits that I wish I could change to make it perfect.

Last year I bought a Hi Gear Mojave 5 which is a great little tent - packs away much smaller than the Kyham, has a sewn in groundsheet and two seperate bedrooms which is perfect if we want to take the loo with us or need somewhere to store all our junk.

However, I feel its a bit flimsy and more of a fair weather tent, so I don't want to ditch my Khyam just yet. But now we have experienced the totally seperate bedroom inners and a sewn in groundsheet I can see what our Kyham is seriously lacking.

So the question is, does anyone here have any thoughts on how we could re-create the sewn in groundsheet and seperate bedroom hangers in our Kyham?

We did cut a cheap groundsheet to fit with a little extra to lay up the sides, works fine if you place kit all round the edges to keep it in place but not ideal and now we have a dog we need something a bit more secure to stop him getting out.

Other option is to sell both the Kyham and Mojave and buy another one - but what I get back won't be enough to buy a new tent.

Thanks

You could try making your ground sheet a zipped in one if your any good with a sewing machine.
Would need to tape the seams though.

Some hanging loops for the bedrooms were missing when I bought our second had Ridgidome, so I got some clear tent adhesive from Wilkinsons and glued in wide loopy strips of nylon fabric. Once this dried, I had new hanging loops for our second bedroom. They have held on perfectly over several camping trips. You could perhaps glue in loops for the extra bedroom you want?
As for creating a SIG, two ideas spring to mind. Either you can fold the tent hems underneath the tent and peg them under, then put in the largest groundsheet you can and peg that down too. It's pretty windproof that way. Or experiment with flexible but strong glue (perhaps the same Wilkinsons glue above), glue in a velcro strip all around the bottom of the tent and then a corresponding velcro onto your groundsheet. I'm not sure how dogproof the velcro will make it, a lot depends on how much your pooch wants to escape!

My OH is convinced that a permanent raincloud follows my tent where ever it is pitched. Apparently, I could end all drought and famine in Africa simply by pitching my tent there!

You could also use elastic loops with a toggle and attach to internal poles
small toggles fit through eyelets on the ground sheet

This way means no actual physical change to your tent or hard labour lol
