Hi,
We have a huge dilemma! We have planned to go camping in holland during the 1st two weeks of June but we have just seen an opportunity to camp in st Austell for two weeks at a great campsite for a fraction of the cost and travelling time.
What do you guys think and has anyone camped in Cornwall in early June? What weather can we expect ?

hi paul...kate. you can't go wrong with cornwall. plenty of places to visit. even holland can have bad weather. better to have that sort of weather at home. st austel is very nice. some nice pubs down there. shopping as well for food.

We spent 11 nights at Meadow Lakes in St Austell year before last. We went late August & had mixed weather but it was a brilliant holiday. When it did rain it didn't last all day & we got out every day. Fistral Beach, St Ives, Padstow, Marazion, Tintagel, a small quiet beach about 5 miles away.... I'd go back in a heartbeat

I think as you are going to Cornwall in August, I say go to Holland I am a big believer in seeing as many places as possible while you can and although it's nice to go back to places you know. Variety is the spice of live.

Been to Cornwall for the last 20 years in October and we have had glorious weather - we've also had awful weather.  But Cornwall is lovely and we keep going back and finding new things to do!! Mind you we don't use the tent as I said October can be bad and chilly - (sorry fellow hardened campers whose photographs were brilliant in the snow and I do think you are brave) so we stay in a caravan

We always stay anywhere between Newquay and St. Agnes and use it as a base to travel. We always think if you're in the middle of Cornwall nowhere is too far to travel and St. Austell is also central but on the other side!  Last year stayed Crantock and booked again for this year.

Short list then :  Tintagel, Boscastle, Lost Garden of Heligan, Eden Project, Mevagissey, Mousehole, St. Ives, Newquay, St. Agnes, Looe, Padstow,  Lizard, Sennen Cove

There's loads of coastal walks, tin mines to visit, cider farm, seal sanctuary, Flambards for kids.

There's coves and bays galore Watergate bay, Sennen Cove, Bedruthan Steps

Oh and if you're members of the National Trust, there are some good places to go.

Oh, dear I could go on and on - you will never be short of things to do, honest, and it's a beautiful part of the world -

Do you think we like it mmmmmm

If you choose Cornwall, enjoy just keep fingers crossed for good weather!!

Half the cost and traveling time...I'd go for Cornwall!!
Don't know if your experienced campers or not but any problems are easier sorted in this country than in Holland with the added problem of the language barrier...But if you are the adventurous types...Go to Holland...

Says Jelboy with his bum right in the middle of the fence....

I'd go for Cornwall too. Think about the extra time relaxing and spending quality time together you can have with less traveling time!

Friends of ours went last year and had a cracking week, dry and sunny (but then that was last year )

We went to both places last year and loved them both
As jelboy says its half the traveling time and half the cost language not a problem as we manage with a bit of Dutch
Cornwall would be 14 days Saturday to Saturday
Holland would be 12 days but one day in France going and one day in France coming back
No contest really
Jelboy we've been camping now 3 ish years would this class us as seasoned/experienced campers oh and great pics from your get together with krazykamper armchair camper and manwithnoname

Yes I would consider you "experienced" campers paul+kate...But as you are in a bit of a dither over Cornwall vs Holland (maybe for financial reasons) I'd still say Cornwall...Do Holland next year

Thanks for your kind words re the Comrie trip..though I can take no credit for any of the pics...We had a ball!!

Jelboy.

There is a bit of a financial headache as we pick the new car up on the 18 may then the holiday 2 weeks after and don't really want to take a brand new car on a massive journey straight away might just be me worrying over nothing
