Hi, we have just come back from a week at Mynytho near Abersoch and we were in a tent with no electric hook up. We have two boys who are 6 and 8. The first night was frosty and the second night was cold due to a strong wind. However, either it got slightly warmer as the week went on or we got used to it - perhaps a bit of both. Plenty of blankets below the sleeping mats, plenty of layers of clothing, a hot water bottle and a good sleeping bag, oh and a hat!. Part way through the week we changed our bedtime routime and got dressed into bed wear an hour or so before going to bed as earlier in the week we were putting cold bedclothes on and then getting straight into sleeping bag.

Its likely the temperatures will get warmer than colder from now on (but then again....). We survived but just plan carefully.

For us here in Denmark, who are used to having our babies sleeping in the pram outdoors in daytime all year round from the age of 2 weeks, the only answer is:

Unless it's below minus 10 Celsius, or the air is very cold and foggy, it is NOT too cold.

That's the official Danish information from the Ministry of Health!

Hi there,

We have just returned from the BH weekend, camping with our 14month old and 6 year old. It was the little ones first camping trip and it was great!

The nights were chilly especially Saturday as it was clear. We made sure he was warm before getting into his cot, layered him up in vest, baby grow, fleece suit and grow bag and he was fine. Had a blip on Saturday night waking up at 2 am for an hour, think he was a tad chilly so we added a fleece blanket and then he was fine. On the other hand you don't want them to overheat so just keep checking! He loved the open space and time to explore!

Don't get caught out by the sun- burned in the day, but freezing at night! Good luck and enjoy !
