Exactly, it's not about judging people, it's about appreciating that people are different and tend to go to certain places and like certain things. Some people seem to have taken offence to this assertion but we do as humans, there is nothing at all wrong with that, denying it is silly. We do tend to fall into broad catagories - be it glamping, or traditional family, adventure sports, young party groups, or many others or something in between. And different people have different needs, tastes and tents. Thats not judgemental, its just reality. For example, the real 'hidden gem' type sites that don't advertise by much other than word of mouth and have very few facilities are going to see more adventurous and experienced types. People with teenagers will often (not always) like sites with entertainment and social activities, and take all the mod cons for them, rather than go some expensive Eco site miles from anywhere where you will more likely see all the tipis, and bell tents and yurts etc (not always, I'm generalising) Nothing wrong with either, again I'm just saying that in response to the original question at the start of the thread - it depends where you go. Some places you get a real mix and they are often great fun. I like quiet remote sites without a 'clubhouse' in site, but I have close friends that hate the idea if being more than a stones throw from a Spar and night club. We are all different thank god :)

What about those that have teenagers and like to take all the mod cons to a nice secluded hidden gem? There'll always be a challenge to any stereotype!

Absolutely, I agree completely! As I said, I was just generalising and everyone is different. I have a young family but we never go to 'family' sites. I hope people see what I'm clumsily trying to say in the sprit its meant. We all have different values.

I love being outdoors, especially with my 2 dogs as they force me to get up and out.

They were nearly all tunnel tents and apart from from ours all polyester, and not an inflatable in sight !!
Since we bought our airbeam inflatable in 2011 we have never been on a campsite with another inflatable tent - we get the onlookers staring at us whilst we put the tent up, then they come and want to see it, and then when we leave they all want to see it go down again!
This BH weekend we spent at our favourite site - family site with EHU on all 75 pitches, and the tents were totally random, a complete mix of tunnel and quite alot of the pod style tents as well, mostly polyester, and pretty much all 6+ person in size. Lots of gazebos - which by the way I like on a site like this - that encourages groups of familes, its nice to see a good social going on.

I've never camped with another bell tent in this country - there was a tipi once, but I mostly camp in France cos I'm a big wuss about being cold at night.
Once when I was pitching next to an older french couple the man starting hummming a big top" circus song!
However, if you want to go to bell tent city, stay at Huttopia in Rille - there were five of us there one week. And we all had the same tarp. And we all seemd to have some sort of furry rug... And cushions... And yup, we were all British.
I love Huttopia for tent porn - lots of lovely Dutch tents. We had a karsten next to us one year, I was very impressed. I'd love one of them.
