Just got back from fab weekend, sun shone from we arrived til we went to bed last night. But as our weather goes it rained from 4am this morning got woken by drips coming onto the bed. We bought a vango maritsa second hand 2 weeks ago and got assured there was no leaks it was just muddy. We cleaned the mud and it looked fine. By 8am our carpet was soaked we had pots everywhere catching the water. It does look as though all the water was coming in at seams but the water was also sticking to the tent. Eventually packed up as the rain was not giving up. I have managed to get it home and get it stored somewhere with heaters to dry out but wiping a bucketload of water off it didn't go down well. Do you think I have to cut my my losses with the tent or do you think seam seal and waterproofing it would work. Such a sad ending to a great weekend but on the plus side it could have rained on our first night and we would have had no weekend.

Hi Carey, there's a few issues to address here. Firstly, what did you clean the mud off with? It may have a bearing on your problem. If detergent was used, ditch the tent, its knackered, otherwise check the following...
Have you ventilated the tent adequately? You need to make sure that condensation isn't part of the problem especially with a family.
Rain ingress will tend to happen in my experience at the weakest points, so look at seams, stress points etc.
Make sure the tent is erected properly with no sections catching the rain water.
With water ingress is difficult to identify where it is coming in so if possible, pitch in your garden and run a hose over it and check for signs of ingress.
Hope some of those suggestions help you resolve your problem!

I wouldn't say the tent is knackered if it has been cleaned with detergent but it will want rinsing off many times or swishing through an industrial washer if it will fit on a rinse cycle. All traces of detergent must be removed before re-proofing.

I have a similar question regarding leaking seams. What is best way to re-proof please?
Its a nylon (??) tent, not a canvas one. I don't think the fabric itself is leaking, but if it was, can they be re-proofed like canvas ones?

My corado leaked like a sieve.I cleaned it with Graingers tent clean, let it dry and reproofed with Fabsil applied with a big plant sprayer.We let this dry and tested next day with hose on the very bad places and its ok now. We had it second hand but Mart likes the canopy even though we have a better tent!.
Cost £12 for tent clean(didnt use all) £24 for Fabsil (dint use all that either, £4 plant sprayer.

Sorry not been on to see replies, we washed the tent with hot water and some mild detergent, vango recommend this on their site. We did thoroughly rinse it, we are not using the tent again until September so we are going to get it up and rinse again and try Seam sealer and fabsil hopefully that will work. Thanks for all your replies.
