Arrived back from my long weekend LARPing having given my new Vango Green Been 350 a very tough first try out.

Arrived on Thursday and by Friday the whole site was getting bombarded by 45mph winds and at times heavy rain - needless to say several tents ( especially those tall ones side on to the wind ) suffered - with a number collapsing and suffering damage.

My tent suffered a couple of pulled out pegs and that was it (excusable as I'd been forced to use cheap pegs as I'd lost my good ones en-route to a theft at a petrol station).

Then baking hot for the rest of the weekend until the wind promptly picked up for the end of the holiday.

All in all really pleased with the tent and had a fabulous time!!

Wow! You have well and truly tested your new tent and it's passed with flying colours. That's a great recommendation.

Am I reading this right? Someone stole your tent pegs at a petrol station?!!

Yep - not just my tent pegs - my tank bag went awol ( I ride a motorbike) containing all my tent pegs ( including rock pegs), mallet and in all about £1000 of stuff.

Fortunately it appears to be insured so should be ok :)

I had a flying tent thanks to the wind this weekend! The pegs held firm but the guy tethers broke free.

Out of interest, where were you camping?

And I can not believe you got robbed at a petrol station, thieves really do strike anywhere. Hope you can replace everything.

I was camping a couple of miles from Silverstone on a site (well field for the LARP event as it's not an official camp site) with a very exposed prevailing wind.

A petrol station would no doubt have security cameras. Your thief was probably there with a vehicle - with a registration number. No clues there?

Talking to the Police tonight about it so they can check such things. Was all covered by insurance so it's just the hassle of replacing that's annoying (and fact I had to 'make do' with cheap tesco's wire pegs in a gale!!)

Ahh there you go all this talk about Delta pegs and all we need is Tesco wire pegs!

We pitched on Friday too, our first pitch with the new Vango Calisto, it took over an hour to pitch, largely down to ensuring we did not lift off, steel poles do not weigh a tent down with gusts of 40-50mph trust me.

Hope you get your stolen gear sorted out and the Police get a detection out of it.

Hehe I did have to double up on them on the side bombarded most and certainly didn't feel safe with them. Had they failed the backup plan was to borrow some of the 'pegs' they were using on some of the larger tents which seemed to be made of lengths of steel re-enforcing bar!!
