hi has anybody used one of the canister type gas heaters in a tent?, are they safe to do so?
looking for advice as we would like some sort of heater for a couple of hours of an evening but we dont have ehu,as we see no need for one for us at the moment.
I'd say they're safe providing there is adequate ventilation. Similar to a gas lamp on a way.
Probably not the best idea but providing all vents are open and maybe a couple of inches of the door if its a sig... Then it will be safe enough. But room for things to go wrong... Not least a fire risk.
------------- There is a place to hide, it's in our minds.

I bought one of these heaters a few years ago and used it on a number of occasions. There is indeed a notice on it which states:"For outdoor use only", but I cannot see that anyone would try to use these to try heating up there garden. I would not use it unattended, not even for a minute. It is good enough to take the chill off the air and we are glad we have it. It will cause some condensation, but nothing too bad if you ensure you have some ventilation.
we use one , but there is always so vent open when its on , ive also used it as a drying aid when weathers been wet to dry kids clothes , but never unattended
I use one for my my frame tent, hasn't got a sig, but I just open up the door every half hour or so to get some fresh air in and to vent any fumes. I never leave it on overnight or unattended.
