I love the fact that in the UK we can do all four seasons in one day. I remember a couple of years ago camping in a field surrounded by the National Forest and watching the mist cover field after field on it's way to us.....it was like a scene from 'The Fog'....only lasted about 15 mins and was glorious sunshine as it rolled on....amazing
we watched the fog do the exact same thing in the Lake District a few years back...it was about 11pm at night with a full moon and the fog started rolling across the fields towards our campsite at about walking pace...with the light from the moon it actually looked like it was glowing...very spooky...
it crept along the bottom edge of the campsite before working its way up the sides, but it never reached us in the middle...eventually after about an hour or so it gradually retreated back down the valley...it's not something i will forget in a hurry...!!

Not sure if my car would be able to cope with the snow, may have to wait until I have a 4 x 4 before attempting a cold weather trip there.
Looking at staying there in 2015, along with Beech Croft Farm, time to start going further afield.

hi zivadog. i can fully recommend hooks house in robin hoods bay. you can get the bus there from whitby. about once an hour i think. cleanest toilets and shower i have ever seen for a small camp site. but take note.. the walk down to the bay is fine. walking back. OH MY GOD. this tests your fitness. but i have since found out that there is a taxi service that brings you back up. fairly cheap and sure worth it for the likes of me. as my knees are clapped out. nice pubs down there. and good chippie at the bottom. usual gift shops as well. meal in pubs are ok as well. if you are without a car. train to middlesborough. then a bus from there to whitby. do not get the train to whitby. albeit the scenery is amazing. it takes an age to get there. bus journey is cheaper and a lot faster. ask for a day ticket. save you some money. not sure if there is a family ticket. that would be cheaper. . as for the walk back up. only privatehudson would enjoy that.
I haven't done a review because to be honest I'd want to lie and say how rubbish it is but I think the reviews for it all ready say it all and the fact we've been going on and of for 25 years .
I know thats what i was like but i thought , i had to give a review this time as we enjoyed it so much.....If this is one of your favourite sites you will love the other we are going to this month no review done for this
