An hour or two??? Conversation as well, quite the charmer there aren't you!
Our extended family were playing rounders one day...Most of the kids and their parents on site joined in and we had a laugh and carry on as you do....Tea time...Kids and parents all disperse...Except for two kids about 6 and 8yrs old...Followed us back to our tent and asked what was for tea??? Young lad plonked himself on one of the chairs by the table and was a bit miffed when told by my SIL that HIS tea was in the rather large TT about 50ft away!!
Next day they were over at ours early...SIL see's the parent and one grandparent(whom we have yet to meet) getting in the car later in the day...Runs over to ask where they were off to..."Bit of sight seeing" they said..."As ours like your company so much we thought you wouldn't mind keeping an eye on them"...All this with the second grandparent sitting in a chair outside the TT???
SIL...Being who she is had had enough..Gave them an earful and a quick lecture on parenting...And no doubt threw in one about camp manners....
You would not believe the huffing and puffing from this family as they put the two kids in the car to go off for the day...Highly put out...And indeed offended by OUR attitude....
Glares and talking behind their hands from across the way For the rest of our stay...But we were left in peace after that...
Thankfully a rare incident for us...But it does happen....
Jelboy.

Can understand why the children would prefer your company to their own family members. You and yours are having lots of fun together and their Family obviously don't care what their children do or who with. You have to feel sorry for the children, but in the end it's not your problem.

Is this something you bought or just picked up along the way?
I am 5'8'' and have a beard so this seems to work too. We have no kids so dont usually camp outside of the holidays so never had that issue.
We have had people borrow the mallet but - I admit this is odd - they get a lecture about me buying this mallet when I toured Spain France Italy and Andora on my own on my motorbike in 2003. I am very practical ad it is the only real memento I have from the trip. Always get it back.
I have helped put up tents for others and would do again and while I would never see anyone go short of necessities most requests for food and drink would result in me reciting the directions to the shop.
With regards people constantly borrowing I am reminded of Fool me Once
We are off on Thursday for 11 days (weather dependent) and just remembered to get my mallet back from my Dad. He is borrowing my 2 man tent and was practising putting it up.
