Thanks for the replies. For those who don't know the campsite the EHU is free and the water in the picture is a sea loch full of life. When I go camping with the family this is the one. when I go with the boys we tend to go for the red squirrel but that is just for the clachaig inn ;)

Either way the views are outstanding.

Yes it's a lovely wee pub so it is!!

The whole Glencoe area is beautiful.

I have just spent 5 nights at Invercoe and it was fab. The views all around the site are stunning you didn't know which way to look first. The site was perfect and had great weather too. My first trip to Scotland was special.

I've driven past Caolasnacon campsite often and it looks really nice. My car seems to be on auto pilot and never seems to get past the Red Squirrel!

I wasn't aware you could have a campfire there, I think Jelboy and I will have to check this one out. He is interested in fishing Loch Leven.

Would love to take my 2 dogs to Red squirrel, looks laid back and good for a swim.Reading the notice though,it looks like people shoot there until 11pm.Google sent me on public transport from Warrington via Edinburgh taking 14.5 hours, could get to America and back in that time lol

I've just had eight days at Arisaig, travelling through Glencoe en route. In conversation with my cousin a few days before I went she told me never to camp in Glencoe as it's very spooky at night. So is she just a scaredy-cat or is it spooky, and if so why? It wouldn't bother me but I'm curious.

yeah jim you are allowed a campfire on the bank of the water. the water only comes so far in so there is plenty of areas to have one without the risk of a flood. jelboy will love the fishing in a few weeks time when the mackerel come in as you can catch them only a few feet out.

Tigermouse have a few drinks at night and that spookiness turns to excitement:)

The whole of the Glen and surrounding area has an atmosphere all its own Tiger...And given the history of the place can be a bit forbidding at times...Though I have never felt remotely scared or spooked when staying there...If anything I find it peaceful and restful..I also get the feeling that the mountains are just THERE!! as they have been for millions of years..You can feel them all around you even when its dark which in its self (for me) is a good thing...

Like many people...For me.. Glencoe was a place you passed through on the way further north....Since Jim Call's open invitation to join him in April last year...I have camped there nearly every month since....Cant see past the Red Squirrel campsite or the Clachaig Pub with its stunning views...

But given the the latest set of piccies posted here...I think I need to check out yon wee campsite further round Loch Leven....Especially if the mackrel start running....

Thanks for those fantatsic pics sco2y...I need to see that view for myself....And as I live 2hrs drive away from it will no doubt do so in the future....

Jelboy.

Agree about Glencoe..it has a magical feel about it. My best memory was sitting near the Devils Staircase with a brew having spent a wild camp near the Kingshouse Hotel and on our way to Kinlochleven watching the sun come up and lighting up the hills.
It just doesn't get better than that..

We also used to wild camp beside the river near the Clachaig Inn, before it was forbidden.Happy days..

Its the BEASTIE OF THE MOOR (in a dramatic voice!).

You see happy campers sitting having breakfast outside, not a care in the world. Suddenly. A grown man jumps up with a terrified look on his coupon, arms flailing wildly at an invisible monster. The air is fille with blood curdling screams as one by one each camper starts running around like a headless chicken swiping at the air as if on their last gasp on eaarth! Then {gulp} SILENCE !!!

The breeze has come up over 5 mph and the sun breaks out.

Yes folks, it's June and the midges are back in town.

Yikes! started to scare myself there!

Yeah..I have seen the odd one since it was stopped. There used to be a large group of us went regular and camped on that area. Had many a good night at the Clachaig and around camp afterwards.
I also went on my own do as shift work made it difficult to go as a group as often as we would have liked but it was never long before you got chatting to someone doing the same.
Nowadays like you say I also prefer a campsite but still have a sneaky wild camp every now and again.

It can get a bit scary if the malt or red tinnies run out...You wouldn't want to hang around Jim's Spot if that happened...

And there was the time the pub shut for two days(no water) that got a bit hairy as well....

Ask(if only you could) the two French girls who turned into a deserted campsite one night last winter and joined us round the fire in the woods(Cos they had seen our fire from the road) If the Glen is scary at night....

Didn't seem to bother them....

Jelboy.
