Hi

I have what appears to be bird poo residue on my polycotton trout lake tent

How do romove/fix these? I did the water test today using the hose pipe and when the water is directly on these spots it lets water in. Do i just keep washing the areas with warm water and let the cotton heal/swell? Or is there another way to fix?

Concerned after a big downpour it may leak a lot..

The spots are lighter than the rest of the tent

Thanks

Scott

Hi Scott & welcome to the forum

The best thing to do is just keep washing it with plain warm water & a clean sponge or brush. It shouldn't let water through the fabric when the poo is removed and the tent is thoroughly dried before it get rained on (or soaked with hose in a rain-like spray - not a full-on blast).

Thanks Jean

I will continue to keep washing the areas with plain warm water and a sponge and see if it fixes it... Its does seem to get damp on the inside where the bird poo used to be and is a different colour when wet... My only concern is it has damaged the fabric

Hi, Scottshere, Do not use any detergents whatsoever, do as advised by Jean, when fully dry you could give the area a light spray of Nikwax solarproof Good luck, John

thanks John for your reply also

I didnt use any detergents thankfully... I am going away for 7 days to Cornwall soon, so it will be a test to see how it stands up against the elements if it rains.

I have washed the areas, however i do think the damage may already be done (the marks are there from when i bought it)

I may take some Nikwax just incase... :-)

Thanks for starting this thread!! We have had the odd bit of poop, I always do a walk around the tent and try and remove it with warm water on the day. But at least I have the suggestions should I miss a bit!
