Same as Nick H last Jubilee week, We witnessed tents full of gear being blown down. Often one pole snapped and that caused a huge problem. we used the car to buffer most the wind over thre tent, but it was horrid like living in a huge lung going in and out. Was the only holiday that we've ever left early. Tho it wasn't helped that most of the bad wind were at night meaning I didnt sleep due to panic attacks :( We also witnessed a similar problem in the summer. We was lucky as the wind came from behind and we had a huge hedge behind us. The tent opposite got battered tho and the couple and young child left a day early. A walk down to the non EHU field was awful, so many tents flatterned tho I dont think any blew away. Field went from full, about 50/60 tents to 5 in a mtter of hours. This wind came up suddenly so most people were out and about, including us. We was down the coast and it wasnt really windy at all, was only on the way back to camp I mentioned to OH OOO that looks windy point to a tree almost bent over. This was almost at the camp. Came back to discover carnage. Was almost like a local wind storm!!
